FIFA Fan Festival™ Houston Becomes a Gathering Place for Sports Legends, Entertainers and Influencers During FIFA World Cup 2026™

More than 30 high-profile guests have visited FIFA Fan Festival Houston, highlighting the city's growing reputation as a premier destination for major sporting events

HOUSTON — FIFA Fan Festival™ Houston has become more than a place to watch matches during the FIFA World Cup 2026™. Throughout the tournament, the festival has emerged as a premier gathering place, welcoming more than 30 internationally recognized athletes, entertainers, influencers and public figures who have joined more than 800,000 fans in attending FIFA World Cup-related events in Houston.

The steady stream of celebrity appearances emphasizes the enthusiasm for Houston serving as a Host City while creating memorable experiences for fans of all ages. Official photo opportunities, stage programming and impromptu visits have delighted thousands of attendees, with related social media content reaching millions of fans around the world.

"One of our goals was to create a festival that combined the spirit of Houston with the magic of the FIFA World Cup," said Patti Smith, Festival Director for FIFA Fan Festival Houston. "The fact that so many respected athletes, entertainers and creators chose to spend time here is a testament that we’re delivering a truly memorable, one-of-a-kind experience."

Throughout the tournament, FIFA Fan Festival Houston has welcomed soccer legends Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, Cobi Jones, Brian McBride, Geoff Cameron, Brek Shea, Brian Ching, Pat Onstad and, soon, Tony Meola; sports icons Carl Lewis, Warren Moon, Vince Young, Andre Ware, Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes, Van Chancellor, Dan Pastorini, Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz and Ka'imi Fairbairn; entertainers Trae Tha Truth, Mike Jones, Baby Bash, Ashley Tamar Davis and Jeon; global digital creators IShowSpeed and Celine Dept; along with Houston Mayor John Whitmire and NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman and Victor Glover. Still to come in the final weeks of the tournament are Lil Flip, RL Bell, Braxton Keith and Sanjo.

The guests consistently praised both the festival experience and Houston's role as a FIFA World Cup Host City.

Streaming sensation IShowSpeed, speaking with FOX 26 during his visit, said, "Houston, I thank y'all and I love y'all. This is a moment I won't forget. ... I'm lit and I'm having fun and this is amazing. Shout out to Houston."

Former U.S. Men's National Team standout Brian Ching said the festival "transformed East Downtown into a destination for the world to see what Houston is all about," adding that "it's amazing to see how the city continually works together to put on big events like no other city."

Fellow U.S. soccer legend Cobi Jones praised Houston's execution as a host city, saying, "Houston's been a fantastic host city. Everything I've experienced over the last 24-48 hours has been great. Houston Stadium was fantastic, and the way everything was handled was flawless." Jones also highlighted the city's international atmosphere, adding, "The Houston fan base is great. It can be a Brazil-Japan game, but you see an entire array of jerseys being worn. Everyone's representing their country and showing out."

Olympic champion Carl Lewis described FIFA Fan Festival Houston as "everything great about Houston—a vibrant, welcoming city bringing the world together in one place."

Former Major League Baseball All-Star Andruw Jones, who attended during Curaçao's first FIFA World Cup match, called the festival "the perfect setup," while Houston recording artist Trae Tha Truth said Fan Festival "should be a permanent staple in Houston" because it is "bringing the city together and introducing an energy that's way bigger than soccer."

Houston's sports icons echoed those sentiments throughout the tournament. Basketball Hall of Famer Cynthia Cooper called FIFA Fan FestivalHouston "an amazing experience," saying "the atmosphere was electric, the balance of entertainment and fan interactions were amazing, and the energy from everyone watching the matches made it such a fun event to be part of."

Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon said he was "really impressed with the pure energy you felt inside from the soccer fans," while Andre Ware applauded the planning behind the event, saying "all that hard work paid off."

Former NFL MVP Dan Pastorini praised the festival as "a wonderful example of H-Town hospitality for the whole world to enjoy." Sheryl Swoopes called the experience "so incredibly cool" and said she was already planning a return visit, while Vince Young said the festival is "making the entire city proud" by showcasing Houston to fans from around the globe.

Boxing champion Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz reflected on the festival's international atmosphere, saying, "The world comes to you here in Houston, and that's what you see here in FIFA Fan Festival. Being a part of moments like this motivates me to keep giving back to Houston."

The breadth of celebrity participation reflects Houston's ability to ignite passion amongst communities of all backgrounds around major sporting events.
