FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee Poster Design Contest
Official Rules and Regulations

I. Official Rules
By submitting an entry, each entrant unconditionally accepts and agrees to the
Official Rules and Warrants of the Contest: you agree and acknowledge that the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee can receive your registration data. All personal information will be used by the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as needed. Information on how to enter and the relevant prize form are part of these official rules, and their entry complies with all requirements outlined in these Official Rules (“Official Rules”).

Eligibility:
- Must live in the Greater Houston area: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, or Waller counties.
- Participants must be 18 years of age or older
- FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee employees, interns, board members, contractors, and their immediate families are not eligible to enter or to win a prize.
- Submission must be viewable in the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee portal by the deadline date and time to be considered eligible to win a prize.

Submission Requirements:
- To enter, go to https://www.fwc26houston.com/postercontest
- Complete an online entry form with the required information and provide a link or upload to an artist portfolio or up to 10 images of past completed work relevant to this project.
- All final designs submitted for consideration must be original and ready for digital
reproduction.
- No reproduction or use of licensed art or imagery will be considered original work.
- AI-generated art or imagery is not permitted.
- Artists must submit an artist portfolio or samples of work by 11:59 p.m. ET on October
21, 2024.

Selection Process:
- To be considered for this contest, interested artists must submit their resume or CV, along with a link to their portfolio of work and an optional Expression of Interest, which includes their plans and ideas for the project while communicating the artist’s personality, professionalism, qualifications, and enthusiasm for the project.
- Members selected by the FIFA World Cup 26™ Host Committee will begin reviewing artist submissions and portfolios following the October 21, 2024 submission deadline.
- Between October 21 and October 31, 2024, up to ten chosen artists may be contacted by the FIFA World Cup 26™ Host Committee for discussion and consideration to become a finalist.
- Three finalists will be selected and contacted by November 1, 2024, to begin actual poster designs. From those submissions, the winning design will be selected and submitted to FIFA by November 30, 2024.

II. PRIZES
Initial Selection:
• 3 selected finalists will receive $500.00 each.

Winner Compensation:
- 1st place winner will be paid an additional $5,000.00 as the Grand Prize.
- Upon receipt of a winner affidavit and necessary documentation to report winnings to the IRS, payments will be made to winning artists within 60 days of the announcement of winning.
- The first-place winner will receive the final award payment within 60 days of the winning design's announcement.
- All taxes are the sole responsibility of the winners.

III. Legal Acknowledgement
1. Rights Transfer:
- The winning artists shall, as a condition of receiving any prizes or compensation,
irrevocably assign, transfer, and convey to FIFA all rights, title, and interest in and to the
submitted design (hereinafter referred to as "the Work"), including all copyrights and moral rights. The winning artist understands that the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee is the agent and partner with FIFA to sponsor this contest.

2. Usage Rights:
- FIFA shall have the exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, and irrevocable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, distribute, and display the Work in any form or medium, whether now known or hereafter developed, for any purpose, including but not limited to the production and sale of posters, mugs, t-shirts, bags, and other merchandise.
- Artist understands and agrees they have no right to use, publish, or otherwise advertise this design and/or image.

3. Acceptance of Rules:
- By submitting an entry to this contest, each entrant acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these official rules and regulations. Any entry not in compliance with these rules will be disqualified at the sole discretion of the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee.

4. Modifications:
- The FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, suspend, or terminate the contest or to modify these rules and regulations at any time and without prior notice. In such an event, the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee reserves the right to award any prizes in a manner deemed fair and equitable by the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee.

IV. Disclaimers and Additional Legal Provisions
1. Liability Release:
- By participating in this contest, each entrant agrees to release, indemnify, and hold
harmless the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee, FIFA, their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives, and agents from and against any claims, losses, damages, or liability of any kind arising from or relating to the entrant's participation in the contest or acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize.

- This contest is void where prohibited. To the extent permitted by law, the right to litigate, to seek injunctive relief, or to make any other recourse to judicial or any other procedure in the case of disputes or claims resulting from or in connection with this contest are hereby excluded, and any entrant expressly waives any and all such rights.

- Entries are void if the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee determines the art is not original or if the entries are illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error, or obtained through fraud or theft.
​
- By entering, entrants also agree to be bound by these official rules, that the decisions of the judges are final and binding with respect to all matters relating to the contest, and if the entrant wins, that the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee and/or FIFA will use the poster/art and each winner’s name, photo and likeness in any publicity or advertising related to the contest or future promotions without compensation or approval. All federal, state, and/or local taxes, fees, and surcharges are the sole responsibility of the prize winners. Prizes are non-transferable.

- The FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee and/or FIFA reserves the right to verify the validity and originality of any entry and/or entrant and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Official Rules or who tampers with the entry process. Failure of the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
- Terms, conditions, rules, and dates are subject to change without notice.

2. Publicity Rights:
- Except where prohibited by law, participation in the contest constitutes the entrant's
consent for the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee and FIFA to use the entrant's name and voice for promotional purposes in any media without further payment or consideration.

3. Governing Law and Jurisdiction:
- These rules and regulations shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the city of Houston, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
​- Any legal actions, suits, or proceedings related to this contest shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Houston, Texas, and each entrant accepts and submits to the personal jurisdiction of these courts with respect to any legal actions, suits, or proceedings arising out of or related to this contest.
​
4. Severability:
- If any provision of these rules and regulations is found invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be severed from the remainder of these rules and regulations, which will otherwise remain in full force and effect.

5. No Waiver:
- The failure of the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee or FIFA to enforce any term of these rules and regulations shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision herein.
- By submitting an entry, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to abide by these official rules and the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee and FIFA decisions, which shall be final and binding in all respects.​
- By submitting an entry to the contest and in case the submitted poster is selected to be used by the Host City of FIFA WORLD CUP 2026, the participant agrees to assign all rights, title, and interest in the submitted poster, including any copyrights, to Fédération Internationale de Football Association, located FIFA-Strasse 20 P.O. Box 8044 Zurich, Switzerland (“FIFA”).

The participant acknowledges and agrees that FIFA shall have the exclusive and perpetual right to use, reproduce, distribute, and display the poster for any purposes related to FIFA WORLD CUP 2026 and any FIFA activities without any further compensation or approval required from the participant. The participant further agrees to take any actions necessary, including signing any additional documents, to confirm FIFA's ownership of the poster and to assist in securing any necessary intellectual property protections.
